Procedures
What should I expect during a colonoscopy?
A colonoscopy is performed under mild sedation for your comfort. The procedure typically takes less than 30 minutes. You’ll need to follow a bowel preparation the day before. After the procedure, you’ll rest briefly before going home with someone to drive you.
What should I expect during an endoscopy?
An upper endoscopy (EGD) allows Dr. Khorshidi to examine your esophagus, stomach, and upper small intestine using a thin, flexible tube. The procedure is performed under mild sedation and typically takes 15-20 minutes.
Is sedation safe?
Yes. We use mild sedation administered by trained professionals. You’ll be monitored throughout the entire procedure. Most patients report feeling comfortable and relaxed, with little to no memory of the procedure.
How do I prepare for my procedure?
Our office will provide detailed preparation instructions when you schedule your procedure. For colonoscopies, this includes a bowel preparation the day before. For endoscopies, you’ll typically need to fast for 6-8 hours before the procedure.
